HEALTHY AGEING - ---- VISION HEALTH IS WEALTH

              Vision health

Age related macular degeneration (AMD) is much more common now and is the common cause of blindness. AMD is a natural process with ageing and gets accelerated due to poor diet, smoking, hereditary reasons, UV rays , stress , working conditions, lifestyle conditions. AMD progressively affects the macula.
The macula is located in the center of the retina, responsible for central vision, and high visual acuity. Poor macular health can cause oxidative stress within the retina, leading to a loss central vision.

Symptoms

—
The early symptoms blurred straight ahead vision ,  wavy lines when viewing a grid , poor color discrimination, and extreme sensitivity to glare , making it difficult to see well in  bright light or to switch from bright to dark.

—It has been studied that Lutein is a primary constituent of the macular region of the retina where it serves to provide anti-oxidant protection.

—It is been clinically shown that 10 mg per day  of Lutein improves eye function.

Solution :

—Some evidence supports a reduction in the risk of AMD with increasing intake of two carotenoids, lutein and zeaxanthin,
—     Consuming omega-3 fatty acids (docosahexaenoic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid) has been correlated with a reduced progression of early AMD, and in conjunction with low glycemic index foods, with reduced progression of advanced

                                          AMD.

Vision health with Lutein

—Lutein was found to be concentrated in the macula, a small area      of the retina responsible for central vision. The hypothesis for          the natural concentration is that lutein helps keep the eyes safe        from oxidative stress and the high-energy photons of blue light.
Various research studies have shown that a direct relationship           exists between lutein intake and pigmentation in the eye .
    —
Several studies show that an increase in macula pigmentation           decreases the risk for eye diseases such as age-related macular        degeneration the authors concluded that visual function is                improved with lutein alone or lutein together with other nutrients .

—    There is also epidemiological evidence that increasing lutein and zeaxanthin intake lowers the risk of cataract  development.

Consumption of more than 2.4 mg of lutein/zeaxanthin daily from foods and supplements was significantly correlated with reduced incidence of nuclear lens opacities.

 Ingredients

—    10 mg Lutein from Marigold flower   - provides antioxidant protection, vision health.

—Bilberry extract , Black current extract -  important for eye health, healthy eye blood vessels.

—Vitamin A  -    good eye sight in the night,
— —Spinach con   -   Phytonutrients —
Dose     :  regular use one tablet daily

MARIGOLD FLOWER

— The petals and pollen of Calendula officinalis contain triterpenoid esters and the carotenoids flavoxanthin and auroxanthin (antioxidants, and the source of the yellow-orange coloration).

— The leaves and stems contain other carotenoids, mostly lutein (80%) and zeaxanthin (5%), and beta-carotene.
Plant extracts are also widely used in cosmetics, presumably due to presence of compounds such as saponins & essential oils.
The flowers of Calendula officinalis contains flavonol glycosides,
triterpene oligoglycosides, oleanane-type triterpene glycosides, saponins, and a sesquiterpene glucoside.

Bilberry fruit

—Often associated with improvement of night vision, bilberries are mentioned in a popular story of World War II RAF pilots consuming bilberry jam to sharpen vision for night missions.
—
Bilberries are recognized as a good source of flavonoids, some of which have antioxidant.

Black current

— The fruit has extraordinarily high vitamin C content (302% of the Daily Value per 100 g, table), good levels of potassium, phosphorus, iron and vitamin B5, and a broad range of other essential nutrients.—Other phytochemicals in the fruit (polyphenols/anthocyanins) have been demonstrated in laboratory experiments with potential to inhibit inflammation mechanisms suspected to be at the origin of heart disease, cancer, microbial infections or
neurological disorders like Alzheimer's disease. Major anthocyanins in blackcurrant pomace are delphinidin-3-O-glucoside, delphinidin-3-O-rutinoside, cyanidin-3-O-glucoside, and cyanidin-3-O-rutinosidewhich are retained in the juice concentrate among other yet unidentified polyphenols.

spinach

—     Spinach has a high nutritional value and is extremely rich in
antioxidants, especially when fresh, steamed, or quickly boiled.

It is a rich source ofvitamin A (and especially high in lutein),
   vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K,magnesium, manganese,
   folate, betaine, iron, vitamin B2calcium,potassium,
vitamin B6, folic acid, copper, protein, phosphorus,
zinc, niacin, selenium and omega-3 fatty acids.

Recently, opioid peptides called rubiscolins have also been found in spinach.
